It’s Wedding Season...and I’m Just Starting to Plan our Big Day!

So here we are in the midst of a global pandemic and I’m going to attempt to begin planning our wedding. Matt and I have been together for 6.5 years and he proposed this past February...right around my birthday and Valentine’s day. I couldn’t be more excited to marry this man but the thought of the wedding planning process is a little nerve wracking, if I’m being honest.

I’m super lucky because as much as I want my fiance to be involved in the planning process, he’s really fine with anything so that means I’m making all of the decisions. I’m a major control freak, like it’s a sickness I swear, but I’m glad that I don’t have a million of his opinions barking at me, lol.Yes, I said what I said.

Peep one if the oldest shots of me and Matt circa 2014.

Aside from having the go ahead from Matthew for us to get married on the beach in Cape May, Nj., I really don’t know what else I want, who to call, or how soon to start planning. We’re aiming for June 2022 because we’re not planning to finance this wedding. We’re paying cash, lol. Talk about being responsible adults??? YES. But I’m holding out hope that I will hit the lottery or decide on a much cheaper dream wedding. That’s not going to happen.

So, here’s what I need to know, how soon should I start planning?

Today I got our guest list completed. It’s super organized in a table format (If you know me, this is no surprise). I have columns for special guests like bridesmaids and groomsmen and their families, along with lists of guests with kids, or guests who will need special accommodations. Seeing as though our wedding is somewhat of a destination, 2.5 hours away from home, I’m worrying how much notice I should give our guests so they can plan to stay overnight or the weekend. Do you have any advice? PLEASE tell me if you do!

Xoxo,

Alaina
