Alright ladies, so it’s been like 3-ish weeks since I got engaged and I still feel like I’m living in a dream. With that being said, I want to tell you all about my engagement ring that I’m sooooo in love with.
Let’s first talk about the box. I know that sounds silly right? Let’s talk about a ring box but let me tell you something --- the box has a story to tell. It’s from the early 1920’s and that’s no surprise once you see it. I feel like I don’t even have to explain. It is antique and a little tattered and it’s seen so many days. Ah, it just leaves me speechless.
What belongs to is just stunning. The ring. The family heirloom that I have the privilege of wearing on my ring finger. I’m obsessed and still in awe of this gorgeous ring, I'm constantly staring at it. Totaling over 2 carats (like OMG) set on a breathtaking platinum band, I literally feel like it should be in a safe, guarded by wolves, on the highest point of Mount Everest. Okay, so I’m being a little dramatic but you get the point. Other than the diamond earrings Matthew bought me a few years ago, this is the most lavish piece of jewelry that has ever graced my body, but to me it’s priceless.
Here’s a little back story about the ring which is also from the 1920's or 30's. Matthew was given the ring by his aunt who doubles as his Godmother. It was his great grandmother’s ring like I mentioned in my Engaged Has A Nice Ring To It post. I find it quite amazing that Matthew ended up with this gorgeous piece of jewelry to propose to me with as his aunt is one of 8 (I’m pretty sure, lol) so how the ring made it’s way to her is beyond me...but I’m so glad it did. Thank you Ciuci Shelly!!
Anyway, we really have no idea when we’re going to get married but I know it will be one year in June and it will be perfect. Matthew is surprisingly on board with all of my crazy ideas so far which literally has me astounded. Stay tuned for upcoming wedding planning posts….I’m ready to get this ball rolling! I'm so pumped to marry my best friend.
