I’m wrapping up the week with a little post about our recent trip to the Turkey Hill Experience! It’s located in Columbia, Pa...about 45 minutes from us which isn’t a bad drive for an afternoon full of fun.
We aren’t the best planners so we bought our tickets in the car as soon as we parked as we weren’t sure if we’d make it inside for the 1 o’clock tour but it turns out it’s self guided which was my favorite thing about the whole experience. If you have little ones to chase around or if you are really interested in the history portion of the experience (or the ice cream samples), you can take your time and spend as much time as you’d like in each part!
Chloe got to pretend to drive an old fashioned Turkey Hill truck and create her own ice cream flavor and packaging and star in her very own Turkey Hill commercial --- green screen and all! Talk about a fun afternoon.
Halfway through the self guided tour there is a little play area that has a slide and complimentary Turkey Hill hats that resemble the ones the actual ice cream makers wear. Chloe’s blew away when we were leaving and best believe she chased that thing all the way down the sidewalk. My advice...grab an extra and stick it in your bag, lol. Her hat ended up covered in ice cream and all crinkled but we still have it at home.
Speaking of ice cream - there are FREE ice cream samples (I’m told it’s unlimited). Yum!! Who doesn’t love free ice cream?
Although the experience isn’t free, it’s rather affordable and definitely a nice thing to do when you just need to get out of the house. We went on a Saturday and it was definitely busy but we still managed to have a really nice time despite the amount of other visitors. I’d recommend visiting on a weekday when it’s less crowded of course but the weekend really wasn’t too bad! Be sure to check out the gift shop where you can get t-shirts, nicknacks, coloring books, etc. You can most likely buy ice cream and Turkey Hill tea/lemonade in the gift shop as well but I honestly couldn’t tell you.
Chloe had a meltdown nearing the end of our visit...homegirl really needed a nap and we had to truck it out of the building to avoid whatever destruction she was about to cause, haha!
I 100% recommend; this experience is really perfect for kiddos of any age. Don’t forget to snap a photo with the giant cow outside!
